The NRCP Governing Board during its September 2009 Meeting approved the proposal to move the date of the 10th SCA Conference slated at SOFITEL Westin Philippine Plaza Hotel, Roxas Boulevard Manila, Philippines from July 25-28, 2009 to June 13-16, 2009
Prof. Badbold Enktuvshin, newly elected President of the Mongolian Academy of Science assumed the position of the Vice-President of the Science Council of Asia effective August 2009.
Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, M.D., SCA President on the invitation of Prof. Dong-Kyo Lee, President of the Asia Ocenia Geosciences Society (AOGS) visited the 16th AOGS Conference held at the Suntec Hotel in Singapore from August 11-15, 2009. The visit afforded the SCA President the opportunity to discuss with the AOGS officials strengthening partnerships with both organizations and invite AOGS to the 10th SCA Conference in Manila. Philippines.
The SCA President is currently in Hayama, Japan attending the 8th ICSU Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific Conference from November 23-27, 2009 . He is expected to invite ICSU-ROAP member countries and partners to the 10th Asia Conference and discuss linkages and research collaboration that are of mutual concerns.
Science Council of Japan (SCJ) Officials and Staff are scheduled to visit the National Research Council of the Philippines from December 2-4, 2009 to jumpstart preparations for the 10th SCA Conference in Manila. The Team led by Prof. Yoichi Muraoka, SCA Secretary-General and Treasurer is scheduled to meet with NRCP Governing Board members to discuss matters concerning the SCA. SCJ is the permanent Secretariat of the SCA.
